MyGreenBuildings recently completed an island getaway located in the Intracoastal Waterway off Sarasota. The boat-access-only house was built as a weekend retreat in a style reminiscent of the "Old Florida" cottages, and utilizes wide porches and shade trees as passive air conditioning. Taking six months to complete, this home was designed with private spaces to accommodate visiting families, and features multi-purpose rooms and an open living area for when the families want to gather together.
