For more than three decades, a wooden 1936 cottage on Beach Road was a northern family's twice-yearly utopia. Ophthalmologists Amir Arbisser and Lisa Brothers Arbisser recall their four sun-kissed children tiptoeing through the dunes, harvesting shells along the Siesta shoreline. The clan grew up there, in a way, at this sandy antidote to the Iowa winters. each visit unlocked a trove of inside jokes and milestones. When the original shack's structure began wilting with age, the Arbissers undertook a renovation project that would steer the home into the future without erasing its past. They would call it "Beach Habah," and enlist Steve Ellis, CEO of the Sarasota desigh-build firm MyGreenBuildings, to turn one humble story into three and create one of the most eco-conscious abodes in Florida.
